Strawberry season is upon us, and you can go out and spend a day at the strawberry farm, and collect the juiciest and best strawberries available, and enjoy the day in the sun! But, if you do not have a moment to rest in this manner, and really do not want to pick berries, the market is really ready to make your smoothie ingredients easy to find.
A Smoothie will Boost your Hunger Pains Away
I usually have a smoothie once a week, and I find the best way to drink these healthy options is to do it myself. There are only so many options for healthy smoothies at the fast food places, and they do try to sell them to us all. The reason I do not buy them from a fast food place, is they tend to add a bunch of sugar, and then you lose the value of the vitamins and the diet effort of weight loss. Sugar should be avoided, as you can get sugar in starch, and it is all you really need. Besides, the berries are so tart and sweet themselves, and you can vary your smoothy for any of the berries that you love. You don’t have to use strawberries, you can use raspberries, blueberries or even some watermelon. It is up to you! I used to add pineapple to my smoothies, but then I learned that there are many additives and chemicals in our pineapples today. Unless you can ensure organic pineapples, try to avoid pineapple completely.
So, here is the recipe:
8oz frozen strawberries, organic
1 cup yogurt, full fat no fat free, chemical free yogurt
1 bananna
1/2 cup of milk or full fat cream, organic
Blend in the blender, and add the berries last. The frozen berries can be a bit slushy if you want a warmer smoothie, as the full frozen berries can be very hard to process in the blender, but are a great way to have a frosty treat as well. Play with the mixture, but only add as much as you can drink in a day or two.
The drink will bring you a great full feeling, and is great on a hot summer day. I have found the smoothie to be a good headache cure too, as the vitamin C is great for healing your inflammation and any immune reaction you are experiencing. The ability for the body to heal with Vitamin C is well documented, and you need it each and every day.
