Contrived during the 1970s, the food pyramid is the right proportions of vegetables, fruit, carbohydrates, protein, dairy, fats and sugars. Now, we add into the food pyramid a choice of daily physical activity.
The Food Pyramid Basic Bottom Blocks
The two items you should be consuming more than any other, is the fruit and vegetable blocks. They are the largest amount of items that you should consume, as they offer great variety, taste and as well nutrition. Unlike fats and sweets, they are not the most caloric of all the blocks, and as such, are the ones you should eat more often and frequently.
The fiber, vitamins, minerals and filling feel of vegetables, you will need to evolve your mindset around this one idea. Of all items, the vegetable block is usually the hardest for new weight loss planners. The reason is, you wouldn’t need a new plan, if you were eating veggies! They will bring you forward in your weight loss plan more than any other block, so learn to break free of your walls around veggies, and learn to love them!
Food Pyramid Myths on Dairy and Protein
On a high protein diet, the calories are not counted, as the weight loss builders are assuming you won’t eat too many calories on protein. If you just eat protein, eventually, your sugar cravings will disappear. It is true, and does happen after a few days. The first few days are hard, but what you are craving usually is dairy and sugars.
If you can limit these two blocks, along with the fat block, you can really make a difference, and it will be a long term strategy. At the beginning, you may want to cleanse your body of fats and sugars entirely, and just eat more fruits and veggies, and a few whole grains. This strategy will work out in the long run, as you will be better prepared when cravings hit.
The better bet, is always stick with your veggies and fruits when you are in doubt. When you see results, then you may want to add in some protein, and some dairy. The problem with these two items is they are higher in calories can can be some stopping points for most new weight loss targets.
